The story so far...
The first chance I got at a competition, I took. The Scorpion Racing Novice Challenge was first on my list. After a disappointing first round entry in the car in its primitive form. Me and my co-driver John Bazley re-enterd ourselves, hoping for victory in the third round. We didn't disappoint, taking the lead by far. Automatically securing us a place in the esteemed Novice Challenge Final.
But before the challenge, I endured a series of appearances at the biggest Land Rover shows of the year. Scorpion were so proud of their work, they put my vehicle front and centre for all to admire. Throughout the events the twist-off gauntlet was thrown down to those who thought they were worthy enough to take on the twist-off ramp. In the main arena, trucks gathered to prove their worth. But only the best would triumph. After a series of attempts, a string of victories and defeats eventually lead to a final showdown. At the end of the day there could only be one winner, and it unfrotunately wasn't me. It was not meant to be for this year, but there's always next year
But the high point of the shows had to have been being awarded 'Best in Show 2006' at the Land Rover World Eastnor Castle Show.
My truck even impressed fellow land rover lover Richard 'Hamster' Hammond

With the shows and qualifying round behind me, I wanted to move on to bigger and better things. So being approached by a previous team mate about an upcoming Protrax event in Morroco, I had to accept the offer. The Desert Storm Challenge was going to be a whole new ball game for, just look at the name! It was near enough a 3 week holiday: a week travelling there, a week of extreme off-roading and another week back. An enjoyable experience throughout. I would definitely reccomend it to anyone who wants try their hand at some proper off-roading.

After a gruelling journey back to the UK. I was back in the swing of things. With the Novice Challenge Final right around the corner, final preparations had to be made before the big day. Cleaning the truck wasn't the most pleasant job, but it had to be done.

Before...

After...

The final had dawned, the teams had been chosen and we were rearing to go. The competition was pitting me against ex-team mates. That didn't bother me though, 1st place was going to be mine, and through all the mud, sweat and tears me and John got there in the end with the help of our brilliant team mates, Kevin and Ben Mahon. A great father and son team.

Me and John...

Kevin and Ben...

The last event of the year for me was the Protrax Santa's Challenge. A fun event, in the spirit of the festive season. The boys at Protrax laid on a great weekend, aimed at novices to experts. A success for everyone participating, a great way to spend a winter weekend. Although the competition at the top was extremely heated. But still we all left the sites in one piece. Not as much a success for me and John as previous events, but the experience was a good one.

With 2007 ahead of us. Who knows what can be expected. But with a place secured in the all wheel drive club racing challenge, and a new range rover in the workshop. The future's bright, the future's muddy.
